Thanksgiving -- what a wonderful holiday! Franicia and I have so much for which to be thankful. We are so thankful for you, our readers and supporters. We are most thankful to God for revealing Himself to mankind and providing a perfect Sacrifice for sin, Jesus Christ. We are also so thankful for our church, Mount Zion in Pensacola as well as our wonderful friends and family.

Thankfulness Should be a Habit

I just started reading some of Jeff Walkers material on product launches. He's a very successful coach helping folks successfully market and launch their own products. He posted the other day on the "Discipline of Gratitude" and brought up several great points. I think that the most important point of his post was that maintaining a mindset of gratitude takes discipline. I'd like to add too that acknowledging, showing gratitude, and submitting to God for all things is an extremely healthy attitude and would add that to Jeff's Discipline of Gratitude.

Don't Forget or Miss Opportunities

When we go through life without being grateful for even the little things, we can easily fall into having a grumbling and complaining spirit. God hates a grumbling and complaining spirit so we definitely should repent of that if we want to please God. A grumbling and complaining spirit also attracts people of like mind. Grumblers and complainers will miss out on life because they don't appreciate the present and are always wishing for what they don't have but hope to.

Don't forget the ways in which God has blessed you. Remember how He has shown Himself faithful so that you can share those things with your children and children's children. Sharing will help your faith as well as those who hear of God's faithfulness.

Write it Down

In order to keep from forgetting, I highly recommend that you keep a journal and keep an account of the things for which you are thankful and the ways God shows His faithfulness and power.

This doesn't have to be complicated. I've tried paper journals and electronic. For now, I use Evernote to keep my journals and tag them appropriately so that you can find them later. I have a template that I use for my journals that I'll add to this post later.
